Posted on: June 30th, 2013 by tara No Comments

In our last blog post, we shared that organizing your home should be:

Practical. Affordable. Maintainable.

The point is to simplify!

So, today, we are going to share a few of our favorite, inexpensive, organizing accessories with you!
These items are extremely versatile and can be used to create beauty in any room.

1. These Handled Baskets from The Container Store – $3.99 to $4.99 each

These baskets are perfect for everything from organizing snacks in the pantry to making it easy to retrieve items stored up high. The handles make them easy to grab and return to their place.

2. Small to Large Lid Organizers like these from The Container Store – $3.99 to $4.99 each

(You can also find these at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and Amazon.com)

These organizers are intended for storing pot lids, baking sheets and cutting boards (for which they are great!) but they are also extremely handy for sorting and storing reusable bags, tupperware lids, craft paper, etc! They can also be used vertically to store anything…from purses to pots and pans!

Here are a few examples:

And lastly…

These are especially helpful in deep cabinets, high places and small spaces, where it is hard to reach in and find what you need. They are most often used for spices, but are also great for jars and cans, water bottles, perfume, nail polish, vitamins, etc! You can use them in the refrigerator, pantry, and even under your bathroom sink!

The best motto for organizing your home is “Keep It Simple!”
With these few versatile weapons in your arsenal, you should be off to a great start!

Organization Overload? :: The Curse of Pinterest for the Struggling Organizer

In the era of Pinterest, we have so many great ideas at our fingertips…
…but is it too much?

You pin the idea. You love it! But does the thought of implementing those ideas majorly overwhelm you??
Hundreds of labels and bins…does it really look any better?? Is it more practical??

Is it possible to be TOO organized?

The answer is YES!

Organizing your home should NOT:

  • cost more than your child’s college tuition
  • be complicated and difficult to maintain
  • make your space look equally busy and cluttered

If each item has its own lidded container, is it easier and faster to put things away? NO!
In all likelihood, those items will end up back on your floor or your counter!
And those containers take up so much space!

Organizing your home SHOULD:

  • create practical, easy-to-maintain systems in your home
  • enable you to clean up quickly
  • give you more free time!
  • simplify your space and make it more beautiful!

Don’t let organizing overwhelm you.
Don’t hesitate to call Neat Organization and Design! That’s what we are here for!
Our goal is to save you time and money and to make your home a place of rest and peace!

Don’t let Pinterest make you feel like an organizing failure. There is a better way!

Stay tuned for our next blog where we will share a few of our favorite
and most versatile organizing accessories!

New Beginnings :: The Heart Behind Neat Organization & Design

I love seeing new growth on my plants.
I become giddy, excited, intrigued.
I watch with anticipation.

When a strawberry turns red, a cucumber grows an inch in one day, or something appears that wasn’t there before…it’s magic.

As humans, we find something thrilling in watching new life emerge. It’s why we love watching makeovers on TV…we love seeing old become new, restoration, growth…lives changed.

And this is precisely why I started Neat Organization and Design. It’s not just about moving things around or making a home look better, it’s about giving people

A FRESH START.

Seeing burdens removed, helping them recover more time in their day, find more peace, a new beginning. Clients have more time for family, more time to be productive, more confidence inviting others into their home, the ability to sit and take a deep breath. When the space around you is in order, life feels more manageable.

Home is where the heart is. When your home feels put right, your heart finds rest.

So, organizing homes is not just about a practical need, it’s also about serving the whole person. This is what drives us at Neat Organization and Design, to walk through life’s messes with our clients, so that they might find peace and rest and a place they love to call home. So they are able to take a deep breath and begin anew!
